DAY
01
LIMA - TRUJILLO
Transfer to the airport and
departure by flight to Trujillo.
Arrival in Trujillo , reception
and transfer to Hotel Libertador (Golden Tulip).In the afternoon city tour of
Trujillo includes the Main Square, the Cathedral with its famous paintings of
the Quito School, the Church and Monastery of El Carmen, which was the city's
most interesting religious architectural complex, the colonial mansions of
"Casa Iturregui", "Casa Bracamonte" (presently housing the
Banco Central Hipotecario) and the Archaeological Museum of Jose Cassinelli,
where a beautiful collection of Chavin, Mochica and Chimu ceramics, metals and
fabrics can be seen. Overnight.
DAY
02
TRUJILLO
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. In the morning guided visit to
the metropolis of Chan-Chan, the ancient capital of the Chimu Empire.
It is the largest pre-Columbian city in South America, built entirely of
mud and adobe bricks. A stop is
made at Huaca Dragon to visit this restored, pyramidal, adobe temple consecrated
to the rainbow, with beautiful bas-reliefs and a small archaeological museum.In the afternoon, visit to the
Sun and Moon pyramids: a few kilometres south east of Trujillo, stand the large
pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Built of millions of adobe bricks, they are
the largest pre-Columbian structures in South America. Interesting coloured
freezes are being discovered and can be seen during the visit to the Moon
pyramid. Overnight.
DAY 04
TRUJILLO - CHICLAYO
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. In the morning , departure for
Chiclayo by private car and a stop at “El Brujo” an archaeological complex to the north of Trujillo, beside the sea,
covering 6 h. and dating back to 3000 BC. Only
part of it can be visited. The Cao
Viejo Pyramid shows colored bas-reliefs with human figures such as dancers and
prisoners. Arrival in Chiclayo
(after a two hours ride), and accommodation at Gran Hotel Chiclayo
DAY 05 CHICLAYO
- LIMA
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit to the
Sipan pyramid, a religious centre where the tomb of the Lord of Sipan was found.
Continue to the adobe pyramid temples of Tucume, located 40 Km/25 miles North of
Chiclayo. From one of the scenic points you can identify the remains of at least
five temples. Stop at the Brunning Museum in Lambayeque where all the golden
ornaments found in the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipan are exhibited.Late
afternoon, return to Chiclayo. Transfer to the airport.
Departure by evening flight to
Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to Hotel .
